Edinburgh RC Tri Squad
Triathlon may be an individual sport but being part of a great team can really make the difference to your performance. Being part of the ERC Tri squad is one of the best clubs I’ve ever been a member of and a lot of my racing success has come from being part of this squad. Having highly motivated team mates to train with weekly, especially in the pool which is a poorer discipline for me, is definitely the way to improve, particularly if you get to chase the Rother up and down the pool every Monday night, I highly recommend it.

Edinburgh Triathletes (shh!! Don’t tell anyone, haha)
Even though they do like to dress in purple ET are a great group of guy’s and girls to train with, particularly when we swim at 6am on a Friday, the banter is surprisingly good at that time of the morning. This session is another reason for my gradual but most definitely improving swim times. I still can’t do breast stroke though, even with the amount that Mike puts into the sessions each week. Has anyone told him the other disciplines in triathlon are cycling and running not back stroke, breast stroke and fly, haha.

Lasswade AC
Out of the three triathlon disciplines running seems to be the one that I have taken to most naturally, how this is possible my colleagues at work have got no idea. With the sizes of my calfs I should barely be able to stand let alone run, it’s one of life’s mysteries. To make the most of my running strength I recently joined Lasswade AC so I could race the cross country season and possibly do some track racing. It has been a great club to run for, with David Hand always keen and enthusiastic to get a team out at all the cross country races, plus they put a great spread on after the Lasswade 10mile road race, always a bonus.
